Library Cards

Every resident of Old Tappan, over the age of 5, is entitled to a free library card.

You must show identification with proof of residence when applying for a card.

Your Old Tappan Library card will be honored in all 78 member libraries of the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS).

Lost cards may be replaced for free.

Nonresidents may purchase an Old Tappan Library card for an annual fee of $400.00. Pay cards are only good at the Old Tappan Library and only for Old Tappan material

Renewals
If no one else is waiting, most materials may be renewed. Once you have reached the maximum number of renewals, the item must be returned and re-shelved by the staff before you can borrow it again. This process usually takes one day, and is not performed on demand.
Internet Availability
The library has wi-fi Internet access and Microsoft Office 2010 on 8 patron computers. Printing costs are $.10 per page for black and white and $.25 per page for color. Time restrictions for computer use will result if demand overtakes computer availability for the public.
Notary Public
One of our regular staff members is a Notary Public. Her notary services are available on a walk-in basis, Tuesday and Wednesday 8am-4pm and Thursday 12pm-8pm. There is no charge. Please call 664-3499 before visiting the library to confirm the Notary will be in the building at the time you plan to arrive.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
The library provides volunteer ESL tutors in the library's ESL program. The program provides one-on-one tutoring for residents needing assistance in learning the English language.
Copier and Fax
The library has a copier for B&W and color copies. Charge is $.10 for B&W and $.25 for color. The copier is also for scanning & faxing. The cost per fax sent is $1.00.
