The Old Tappan Library is always seeking people who would like to donate their time to become a tutor for our English as a Second Language Program. Or are you a new arrival in the United States? Are you interested in learning and improving your English skills?
Tutors are matched with adult learners for one-to-one ESL lessons or group sessions. Tutors and students meet at the library once a week for an hour.
Tutors do not need to speak their student's native language and a teaching degree is not necessary. Most students are interested in conversation and learning about our culture.
Through weekly conversations the experience of being an ESL tutor enriches the student's life and tutors learn about other cultures while acquiring a new understanding of the intricacies of their own language.
Tutors will attend a one time orientation that covers tips, training materials, and tutoring resources. For more information please contact Maria.
