Artist's Eyes on the American Revolution: John Trumbull's Paintings

With Art Historian Michael Norris

Tuesday, Jul 28, 2026 6:30pm

Join us as we continue celebrating our nation's 250th birthday with Michael Norris, who delves into the artistic legacy of John Trumbull (1756–1843). Discover Trumbull’s remarkable journey, from his time as a Harvard graduate and military aide in the American Revolutionary War to his rise as one of America’s premier portrait artists. Despite being blind in one eye, Trumbull created iconic works, including revolutionary war scenes, four of which are proudly displayed in the U.S. Capitol rotunda. His artwork can now be found in major East Coast institutions, reflecting his enduring impact on American history and culture.
